Thank you for your interest in
adopting one of our birds. If you wish to apply, please do, but be aware that
our adoption processes are slow and meticulous so we ask that you bear with us.
At PARS, our first concern is always the welfare of the birds, however we try
to keep the human element in mind as well.
Following are the general requirements for adopting
a bird from us.

You
must be at least 18 years of age. |

You
must adopt the bird as your own personal companion pet. Adoption on behalf of
someone else, for a child or as a gift is not permitted. |
|
|
You
must live within 2 1/2 hours driving time from Huntsville, Alabama
(as determined by Mapquest). |
|
|
You
must not have purchased, adopted or otherwise acquired another bird within the
last 12 months. |
|
|
You
must have the financial means to properly support the adopted bird. If you are
unemployed, we may ask for proof of your ability to do so.
|
|
|
You
must be a home owner or have been in your current rental arrangement a minimum
of 2 years. If you rent, we may require a letter from your landlord
acknowledging that he/she is aware of your intent to acquire a parrot and that
it is permissible for you to maintain it in your rented residence. |

If
you have ever been convicted at any time or any place of charges relating to
animal cruelity, abuse or neglect, you are not eligible to adopt from us. |

If you meet the
general requirements and are interested in adopting, please carefully review
the Adoption Policy and Procedure page and the Adoption
Application for more details. You can apply to adopt a specific
bird from our Available For Adoption page by specifying it's
name and species on your application. If there are no birds available at the
time or you do not see one that you would care to adopt, you can submit an
application anyway. Just list your preferences on the application and in the
future, we will try to match them to an in-coming bird or a bird listed with
one of our rescue network partners.
